LONDON, UK — Blade Runners, the latest short film from award-winning filmmaker Matthew Rowney, has officially screened at the Genesis Cinema in East London as part of the London Independent Film Festival (LIFF). The film was selected to compete in the prestigious Best UK Short category, celebrating excellence in British independent cinema.

The screening marks another milestone in Panchariya Brothers’s growing reputation for stylish, character-driven storytelling. Blade Runners blends neo-noir visuals with sharp social commentary, exploring themes of identity, technology, and morality in a near-future world that feels both cinematic and uncomfortably close to home.

Speaking after the screening, Rowney expressed gratitude for the festival’s support of independent creators:

“London Independent Film Festival has always been a home for risk-taking filmmakers. To have Blade Runners premiere here — in a city that inspired so much of the film’s atmosphere — feels incredibly special,” Rowney said.

The film drew strong audience reactions at the Genesis, known as one of London’s leading venues for emerging British talent. Its inclusion in the Best UK Short competition places it alongside a slate of bold and innovative works showcasing the future of British filmmaking.

The London Independent Film Festival runs annually, spotlighting visionary independent films from around the UK and beyond.
